Like every other machine, electric cars also have their Pros and Cons.
Pros:
No fuel, enhanced safety, environment-friendly, future-oriented. Electric cars are less expensive to maintain as compared to fuel-driven cars because they have less complex machinery to be taken care of.
Cons:
Not enough infrastructure to support the operations, Cost of vehicle is more, Waiting period for vehicle delivery is average around 60 days for sedan segments and 180 days for Bus segments.
On an average, existing sedan electric cars (Tata Tigor / e-Verito) can cover around 100 to 120 kms in one charge. Min 8hrs required for normal charging and an average of 2hrs required for fast charging. Continuous fast charging may lead to limited battery life.
On an average, electric bus (40 seater) can cover around 160 to 200 kms in one charge. Min 6hrs required for normal charging and an average of 2hrs required for fast charging. Continuous fast charging may lead to limited battery life.
